Years ago I was faced with the same kind of thing. I paid a lot of coin to have others build my engine for me in the past. Figured I'd better learn if I'm going to keep this thing.
Buy a FSM, and as long as this isn't your daily driver, start learning about it.I've learned everything I could ever need to know about the mechanial on the Z engine now. I've disassembled many engines, reassembled many engines, and now have pulled multiple engines out of different vehicles to R&R. All of which I now find simple work. Hell, I've even had a TT.net member fly me to Spain to pull and fix his Z engine after he had general mechanics fly in and be unable to fix his problem. So yeah, I think you should learn! Ain't nothing quite like a free hourly shop rate! Of course, if you are not interested in the work, well, buck up!
